When we planted our first Christmas Trees back in 2006, we had no idea that our new hobby would turn into a business, no idea that it would become a full time job.
We have thoroughly enjoyed the last 10 years. We have loved meeting all of our fabulous customers. We have been amazed by your willingness to turn up in all weathers, and amused by your expectation that we will remember precisely what type of tree you (each and every one of you!) had last year! We have loved becoming a part of your traditions, meeting your dogs and seeing your families grow.
We have loved working with our fantastic team. Without the lads, we could not have coped and their enthusiasm and smiles, even on the coldest, wettest days, really lifted the spirits!
Ten years on, we have decided that it is time for a change and we are delighted to announce that we have found a lovely family to take Ty Cerrig forward.
Stephen and Helen Reynolds, together with their eldest son, Charlie, are the new owners of Ty Cerrig. They have been growing Christmas Trees for over 20 years, mainly for the wholesale market, so we know that Ty Cerrig is in safe hands!
Stephen is a respected member of the Christmas Tree farming community and sits on the committee of the British Christmas Tree Growers Association.
Charlie has grown up around Christmas Trees. He has already started working at Ty Cerrig as it is time for de-budding and leader control – yes, it is a year round job, not just a few weeks at Christmas!! He is also the founder of the UK Christmas Tree Throwing Competition!
Helen is in charge of the office and keeping everyone organised – and she is a busy lady with three other children too! Kate is at Cardiff University, so is perfectly placed to pop over to help on the farm at Christmas. Bill and Alfie are still at school, but both are very much involved in the family business on weekends and holidays.
Stephen, Helen and Charlie loved Ty Cerrig from the moment they first visited. They plan to continue to open Ty Cerrig as a “you choose, we cut” farm and are also keen to maintain the relationships that we have built with local schools.
They are also taking over the Woodland Retreats business and are looking forward to meeting their first guests.
We wish them all the best and hope that you will all continue to enjoy Ty Cerrig too.
As for our family, we do not yet know where life will take us next (that is part of the adventure!) but we do know that we will be taking with us lots of very happy memories!
With love from
Andrew, Charlotte, Abigail & James,
(and licks from Honey & Breeze)
